Terms of Endearment in Georgian: Ethnolinguistic Analysis of Verb Forms of Address

Abstract
Terms of address are an essential component ofspeech etiquette. They can reflect the social and cultural values.Therefore, in the era of globalization, familiarizing oneself withthe communication norms of a certain culture has become aninevitable part of daily lives and a prerequisite to succeed inone’s business. This paper looks at the typological models ofverb forms of address in Georgian language where they areanalyzed from an ethnolinguistic point of view. Verb forms ofaddress represent one group of terms of endearment inGeorgian. By focusing on historical events, cultural tendenciesand the structure of the society, we discuss the cultural specificsand norms of communication in Georgian. The findings indicatethat the verb forms of endearment in Georgian are complexintracultural signs reflecting stereotypical views of a linguisticcommunity.
