Abstract—In the post-pandemic era—a time of both unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges—young people navigating their personal and professional development face a range of difficulties. Cultural shifts, evolving values, and economic pressures have contributed to problematic trends, including extreme phenomena such as “involution,” driven by unhealthy peer competition, and the subsequent rise of withdrawal behaviors like “goblin mode” among some individuals. In such a new era, we need to reread the classics of the predecessors, from which to find some insights into youth development from the realistic perspectives. Julien and Gao Jialin in different times and countries, are typical fighter images of intellectual youth. Their life choices and experiences also the tragedies have profound significance for times and social values.
